BRPD Chief speaks out after arrest of Cpl.
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - 49 year old Corporal Mitchell Duncan is accused of breaking in to a woman's home - and assaulting her while he was on the clock as a BRPD Patrol Officer.
Duncan was arrested late Thursday night by his own department.
Friday, Chief Dewayne White says his top priority is still restoring trust in his department. White says that shows with this arrest.
" When we as an agency violate the law - then we have to hold outselves accountable, we have to police the police, and that's what we've done in this case. ", says White.
The Chief goes on to say, "the action was swift, it was justified, and necessary."
BRPD says Corporal Munn resigned after being arrested. The Chief says this arrest should send a message to the entire police force. He says that message is doing something against the law won't be tolerated.
