MELBOURNE, Australia (CNN) — A 'Roo rescue near Melbourne, Australia.
A male, Eastern Gray Kangaroo jumped a fence and landed in the deep end of a pool.
The property owner's dog alerted her to the situation and the kangaroo was found just in time.
He had been fighting for his life for about four hours and had swallowed a lot of water.
A neighbor and a wildlife expert were called to help in the rescue.
A restraint used to catch dogs was put over his head before he could be sedated.
He was taken to an animal sanctuary, suffering from hypothermia.
And his nails were worn down from the struggle to swim.
As he regains his strength, it was hoped he will be released back into the bush soon.
