DNA evidence links suspect to shooting death on Cate Avenue
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — Police are charging Demond Bessie, 23, with for the shooting death of a man on Cate Avenue.
Ljean Mckneely, a BRPD spokesperson, says DNA evidence has linked Bessie to the death of Major Brown, 29, back on July 9, 2014.
Investigators believe robbery was the motive for Brown’s murder, and are charging Bessie with 1st Degree Murder.
Authorities arrested Bessie on July 31, 2014 for the death of another man; Elbert Bertrand Marshall who was shot to death on May 1, 2014 at 1737 La Annie Ave.
Bessie is being charged with 2nd Degree Murder for Marshall’s death and is currently in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison
