LAFAYETTE, LA (FOX44) — A Lafayette mother is now in jail for the death of her 3-year-old daughter.
Police spokesperson, Paul Mouton, says the child went almost 25 hours without food or fluids before she died of hypothermia and dehydration.
The mother Sarah Leblanc, 27, allegedly left the child unattended for over 12 hours, on the day she died.
Leblanc told investigators she never left the house that day, but detectives found surveillance video showing her going to a fast food restaurant.
LPD arrested Leblanc on August 12, 2014 and charged her Negligent Homicide.
Mouton says the investigation is still ongoing.
