A Ponchatoula man is in jail for possessing a large amount of cocaine.

Investigators say they arrested Roy Donald Metz, 26, on August 7, 2014 after he failed to pull over for speeding.

Deputies had to create a roadblock to finally stop Metz.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards says Metz tried reaching for a handgun when stopped but deputies were able to arrest Metz without anyone getting hurt.

Investigators found 18 rocks of cocaine along with a handgun inside the vehicle.

Metz was charged with possession with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm while in possession of a legend drug.
