Search warrant leads to seizure of 218 lbs of synthetic pot at Lotus Shop

Two people have been arrested after East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s detectives conducted a search warrant at the Lotus shop on O’Neal Lane.

According to a police statement, EBRSO seized about 218 pounds of synthetic marijuana along with cash money found inside the business.

The owner of the store, Tim Nguyen, 39, showed up while officers were still on scene.

Agents searched Nguyen’s vehicle and discovered more money and documents with the name of the business and Nguyen’s home address.

Deputies asked Nguyen if he had illegal items at his home, to which he responded that he had synthetic marijuana samples and more cash.

Nguyen then gave verbal and written consent for police to search his apartment.

In that search, officers found documentation of sales from the business, synthetic marijuana, and a large sum of currency.

Deputies seized a total amount of $34,304.00.

Nguyen was arrested for possession with intent to distribute Schedule I, Synthetic Marijuana and Distribution of Schedule I, Synthetic Marijuana.

Also arrested was Tien Hoang, 33, for Distribution of Schedule I, Synthetic Marijuana.
