20-year-old turns himself in to BRPD for hit-and-run that killed a female pedestrian

A 20-year-old man turned himself in to police for causing a hit-and-run crash that killed a 47-year-old woman.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that Devante Pugh of Baker turned himself in on Monday, July 15.

“There was a warrant out for his arrest,” Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, Baton Rouge Police Department, explained. “He turned himself in with his attorney present and did not make any comment regarding the investigation.”

The crash happened on Saturday, June 1 in the eastbound lane at the 6400 block of Greenwell Springs Road. The victim, Louise Hunter, was attempting to cross the road when she was struck. She died shortly after being transported to a local hospital.

Pugh is charged with felony Hit-and-Run, Obstruction of Justice and Driver’s License Suspended. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
