Prairieville man arrested after allegedly fondling fiance's 12-year-old daughter
ASCENSION PARISH, LA — Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Major Kevin Hanna reports the arrest of a Prairieville man on charges of molestation of a juvenile.
Donald Powell, 45, of Prairieville, was arrested on November 5 following allegations of inappropriate behavior with a juvenile.
A criminal investigation was launched following the allegations made by Powell’s fiancée, that he fondled her 12-year-old daughter.
The Ascension Parish juvenile detectives’ investigation revealed that the fondling occurred over, nearly, a six-month period.
During the course of the investigation detectives learned that Powell has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1987 where he was arrested for sexual battery in a neighboring parish. With the exception of the 1987 arrest, Powell’s criminal history consists mostly of burglaries and thefts.
On October 25, the facts of the case were brought to an Ascension Parish Grand Jury which led to the indictment of Powell on one count of Molestation of a Juvenile.
Powell is currently incarcerated at the Ascension Parish Jail where his bond has been set at $75,000.
