Nashville student accused of taking $2K in books without paying
Nashville (WSMV-CNN) — A Nashville State Community College student is facing a felony charge in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of school text books.
The student, Kyle W. Reed, said it all started out as an innocent mistake.
He says he was purchasing textbooks on the college's website for his class and went to check out. However, Reed accidentally typed in the wrong account number.
When he realized there was a glitch, he was still able to purchase the books and have them delivered to his house. But once Reed figured out there was a problem, he didn't report it and continued to order more textbooks, according to investigators.
Police said the books he took were worth $2,392.
Reed is charged with a felony because of the total cost of the books.
