PORT ALLEN, LA (FOX44) — Floats, flags, and fun filled Downtown Port Allen Sunday all for the 9th annual 'Veterans on Parade' event.
"It just means the country is coming back together again and remember the veterans," Carl Robertson, Army veteran, said.
"I think they all should come out and support our veterans, because if it wasn't for our veterans we wouldn't be free," Ralph Wilder, WWII Navy Veteran, said.
People put on their best patriotic gear to cheer on veterans and those still serving in the armed forces and to say thanks for all they've done.
"People come out and show love for the veterans, and it is heart warming," Brig. Gen. Sherian Cadoria, US Army Retired, Grand Marshal of the event, said.
Veterans say they appreciated the support
"We like to see especially the young people participate and the little kids they enjoy especially catching the throws," Ellis Gauthier, Veteran, said. "So many times the real young people aren't aware yet of what the military is all about. So, this will kind of help them make them aware of the role the military has played in our life today."
The event wrapped up with a special ceremony outside the West Baton Rouge Parish Courthouse.
